Happy New Year from the BFA Judges Board!
Following our announcement about ulna measures officially counting towards height cards from 1 January 2023 and feedback received from the membership, some further data analysis of ulna measures taken last year has been completed. This analysis has shown that there has been little to no inconsistency between measures taken by different Measuring Officials on the ulna system.
The BFA Committee and Judges Board have therefore decided that ulna measures taking place from 1st of July 2022 and recorded on a tournament C9 form should be recognised as official measures for a height card. (The physical cards will follow when possible due to the volume)
The Height Card Coordinator will do their best to work with the Committee and Judges Board to get the Master Height Card list up to date, taken into consideration these ulna measures, for the weekend of 14th January 2023. In order to do this in an efficient way, they will be prioritising the update of height cards for dogs racing as height dogs that weekend. An email is being sent to all team captains, asking them to email the Judges Board with the details of dogs racing as height dogs that weekend. This will follow very soon.
We would ask that Tournament Organisers still continue to prioritise measuring for dogs racing as height dogs that day at their tournaments but hopefully the above decision should significantly reduce the demand for ulna measuring at upcoming tournaments.
We acknowledge that requests have been made for data obtained on ulna measures in 2022 to be released. The data is currently being sanitised and analysed accordingly and will be made available to the BFA membership in due course.
Please contact the Judges Board on bfajudgesboard@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like any clarifications on the above. Thank you.
